On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Steel City FC extended its winning streak to two; as they rallied to defeat Lehigh Valley Tempest 3-1 in Keystone play. Steel City is now 3-3-1 on the season, while Tempest falls to 3-3.
Tempest took an early lead over Steel City just 3:30 minutes into the game off a 35-yard shot while the Steel City goalie was out of position.
Steel City would answer with a goal in the 27th minute when Cheyenne Kuncher scored of a Naomi Matthusen pass on the 6-yard box. Steel City would continue to press with shots from Kuncher and Laurel Carpenter along with 2 corners to end the half. The teams went into halftime at 1 a piece.
GK Jess Neil would make big back-to-back saves in the 48th minute to keep the score at one-all. Jansen Jamison would provide the go-ahead goal when she took a shot on the corner of the 18, making the game 2-1.
Mel Renda would give Steel City a 2-goal lead in the 77th minute off an Emily Indof corner. Tempest would take on Neill 1v1 at 85:45, and Neill made a huge save to preserve the 2-goal lead.
Steel City would earn the win 3-1. Kuncher lead with 4 shots, Jordan Daloisio, Jamison, Renda and Laurel Carpenter each had 2 shots. Tori Kopchak, Hannaoui, Naomi Matthusen, and Indof each had a shot in the win.
Neill had 4 saves in net, playing in all 90 minutes.
