Pittsburgh, PA – The Women’s First Team closed out their 2026 season on Saturday with a 5-0 defeat to the Riveters at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening. This moved them to (5-5-0) on the season, which was filled with obstacles.

Throughout the season, the group continued to build on ideas from practice and made steady improvements throughout the season, scoring some great goals and getting some good results. Abigail Stager (Maryland ’28) was a bright spot for the team this year. She scored a team high of 4 goals despite not being available for every match. She provided a constant attacking threat when she was on the pitch and sparked the team’s offense in multiple matches.

Across the rest of the squad, several players stepped into bigger roles. Samantha Miller (Kent State ’27) was much more involved this year through her role in the midfield. Miller added a calmness and composure to the midfield, helping Steel City get into offensive rhythms and score quickly on counterattacks.

Captain Emily Graeca (JMU ’28) and Coco Dorfman (Marquette ’28) anchored this Steel City backline that kept four clean sheets on the season. They were vital in keeping the team steady throughout the season and helped both create chances and stop opposition.

While the season had its share of adversity, it also laid a foundation for growth. The returning core improved on things from last year, and the new players brought in an attacking presence that Steel City can build upon for next year. The Women’s First Team will continue to move forward and is optimistic about having an even better season next summer.
